NCAAB: Oklahoma Sooners vs. TCU Horned Frogs Betting Preview

The Big 12 will be in full swing Tuesday night, including a matchup between the Oklahoma Sooners (11-8, 2-5) and the No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs (15-4, 4-3). The Horned Frogs will host this one at the Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena, with tipoff scheduled for 8:00 pm ET.

Oklahoma has lost two in a row, but they nearly pulled off a home upset in their last contest, losing to No. 17 Baylor 62-60. In the loss, Jalen Hill had a game-high 17 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Tanner Groves added 16 points and another nine boards.

TCU has won two of their last three contests, including massive victories over both No. 5 Kansas State (82-68) and No. 9 Kansas (83-60). Unfortunately, sandwiched in between was a 74-65 road loss to unranked West Virginia. In their last game against the Jayhawks, Shahada Wells and Mike Miles combined for 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

TCU is the favorite in this one playing at home. They are -315 to win, while the Sooners’ moneyline sits at +250. The spread features Oklahoma as 7.5-point underdogs (-114), and the over/under for total points is 138.5 (-110).

Oklahoma Looks To Stay Out Of Conference Basement

At 11-8 overall and 2-5 in the Big 12, the Sooners currently sit in eighth in the conference, better than just West Virginia and Texas Tech. Trying to stay away from the conference cellar, the Sooners will look to pull off a big road upset Tuesday night.

The Sooners have struggled a bit offensively, ranking 232nd in the nation in scoring, averaging 68.1 points per game.

The team is led by senior guard Grant Sherfield, who is averaging 17 points per game on 43.5% shooting. He is also averaging 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

The only other Sooner averaging double digits is forward Tanner Groves, who is averaging 10.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks.

The Sooners rank much better on defense as they sit 34th, allowing an average of 63.8 points per game to opponents (66.7).

TCU Hopes To Avoid Another Letdown

With two major upsets on their resume in the last 10 days, TCU is looking to avoid another letdown as they host the unranked Oklahoma. They are also looking to make a push in the Big 12, where they sit fifth overall, two games behind the top-ranked Kansas State Wildcats.

On the defensive side, TCU ranks 52nd in the nation, allowing opponents an average of 64.9 points per game (61.2 at home).

Offensively, the Horned Frogs rank 37th, averaging 77.6 points per game (78.9 at home). The team’s leading scorer is junior guard Mike Miles Jr. In 16 games, he is averaging 18.9 points on 52.6% shooting. He is also averaging 3 rebounds, 3.4 assist, and 1.4 steals per game.

TCU has two others averaging double digits in forward Emanu Miller (14 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals) and guard Damion Baugh (12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.1 steals).

Take TCU To Win And Cover

Looking at the trends, Oklahoma is just 2-4 in their last six games, and they are 2-8 straight up in their last 10 road games.

For TCU, they are 13-3 in their last 16 games overall and 10-3-1 against the spread in their last 14 games. In their last eight home games, they are 7-1.

TCU is coming off massive wins in two of their last three games, and after having a disappointing game against West Virginia after the first of the two wins, don’t expect head coach Jamie Dixon to let his guys get complacent again.

Take TCU to both win and to cover the 7.5-point spread (-106) Tuesday night.
