NFL Week 6 Wraps up With Cowboys Monday Night Football Win
The National Football League saw Week 6 come to an end on Monday Night Football, with the Dallas Cowboys topping the Los Angeles Chargers.
Justin Herbert threw a late interception as he aimed to lead the Chargers down the field to tie or win the game. Dallas held on to win the game 20-17. The win for Dallas pushed them to 4-2 on the season, while the Chargers are now 2-3.
Week 6 saw some great games, and in the end, the top two teams both lost. There are no longer any unbeaten teams in the league. Let’s take a look at those guys and the other interesting scores for Week 6.
Final Two on Same Day
First, the Cleveland Browns took down the San Francisco 49ers. Jake Moody had a chance to win the game for the 49ers as the time expired but missed a field goal, and the San Francisco undefeated season came to an end. Cleveland’s defense was fantastic, keeping Brock Purdy to just 125 yards in the game.
The loss also came at a price for the 49ers, as they lost their running back Christian McCaffrey to injury. The win for Cleveland pushed them to 3-2 on the season and was the first win for PJ Walker as the starting quarterback.
In the late afternoon game, the Philadelphia Eagles lost their first game of the season as well. The New York Jets stormed back from down 14-3 to win the game 20-14.
The Jets intercepted Jalen Hurts three times in the game and held him to just one passing touchdown. Zach Wilson was 19 of 33 for 186 yards in the game, while Breece Hall picked up just 39 yards. The Eagles fell to 5-1, while the Jets are now 3-3.
Sunday Night Battle in Upstate New York
We almost saw an upset in the final game of the night. The New York Giants had the ball at the 1-yard line with no time left on the clock, and one play and the pass from Tyrod Taylor went through Darren Waller’s hands. The Buffalo Bills escaped with a 14-9 win.
Josh Allen was not great, but he did enough to give his team the win. The Bills are now 4-2 on the season, while the Giants have fallen to 1-5.
Dolphins Highest Scoring Team of the Day
Stop us if you have heard this before. The Miami Dolphins were the highest-scoring team on the day.
After trailing 14-0, the Dolphins scored 35 straight points, including one to each Tyreke Hill and Jalen Waddel, with three from Raheem Mostert in the 42-21 win over the Carolina Panthers. The loss for the Panthers kept them as the lone remaining winless team in the league.
Carolina will take their bye this week and then come back with two straight home games against the Texans and Colts before going to Chicago for Thursday Night Football in Week 10.
Patriots Free Fall Continues
The New England Patriots free fall continued on Sunday. The Patriots had chances late but could not come away with enough to beat the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders lost their quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo after he threw for 162 yards and a touchdown. Josh Jacobs got 25 carries in the game and picked up 77 yards.
The win for the Raiders got them back to .500 on the season. The loss for the Patriots has them at 1-5, which is the worst record in the AFC heading into Week 7.
Week 7 Look Ahead
Week 7 will get started on Thursday Night Football with the Jacksonville Jaguars at the New Orleans Saints. In that game, the Jaguars will look to win their fourth straight game.
The Sunday Night Football game should be a great one, featuring a pair of teams with just one loss on the season. The Miami Dolphins are at the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia is coming off its first loss of the season to the Cleveland Browns.
The final game of the week will feature the San Francisco 49ers on the road at the Minnesota Vikings.
The 49ers will see what their status of Christian McCaffrey is after leaving the game on Sunday with an oblique injury. For the Vikings, they will not have Justin Jefferson, as he is out for at least four weeks.
Best of luck in Week 7, and enjoy the games!
