Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks Game 3 Betting Preview
It’s Game 3 of the best of 7 series between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks.
This is the National League Championship Series, and after two wins at home, the Philadelphia Phillies lead the series 2-0. Now, the Diamondbacks will host the next three games, looking to get back to Philadelphia with the series still alive.
The Phillies won the first game 5-3 over the Diamondbacks, while Game Two was a blowout, with a 10-0 thrashing. The Philadelphia Phillies come into the game as the favorites at -132. The total for this game is listed at nine runs.
Diamondbacks on Life Support
The Arizona Diamondbacks are on life support, as they have just three runs in the first two games combined. Arizona was not an excellent hitting team in the regular season, and they have shown signs of inconsistency, including getting shut out in Game 2. The Diamondbacks were 14th in runs scored and also in batting average during the regular season.
Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll have been the top offensive threats for Arizona in the postseason. The Diamondbacks have hit 14 home runs in 7 games, including four in the game that eliminated the Dodgers.
Both Marte and Carroll have two, while Gabriel Moreno has clubbed three. Carroll, who will be National League Rookie of the Year, leads the team with six walks in the postseason.
Brandon Pfaadt is going to get the start for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has been the Diamondback’s third pitcher through both series in the postseason thus far.
The 25-year-old has not had a ton of postseason success, but overall, he has thrown seven innings, allowing nine hits and three earned runs against the Brewers and Dodgers. Pfaadt made 18 regular season starts and went 3-9 on the season.
Red Hot Philadelphia Bats
Philadelphia has been absolutely red-hot on the offensive side this postseason.
The Phillies have clubbed 19 home runs in eight games. Philadelphia has five guys with multiple home runs, including five from Nick Castellanos. Bryce Harper has four, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner have three, while J.T. Realmuto leads the team with ten runs batted in and two home runs.
Philadelphia is also seeing Trea Turner have an outstanding postseason. Despite four errors in the field thus far, the shortstop is hitting .500 with 15 hits in 30 at bats. Bryce Harper is at .385 but also has walked nine times in those eight postseason games. Philadelphia has scored 46 runs in 8 games.
The Phillies have yet to make the official announcement, but it is assumed Ranger Suarez will get the start for them. He is the lone Phillies pitcher to make a start outside of Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola. Suarez has gone 8.2 innings and allowed four hits and a run so far in the postseason.
Those were starts in the wildcard round against the Marlins and the divisional round against the Braves. During the regular season, Suarez went 4-6 with a 4.18 earned run average.
Phillies Make Series 3-0
Well, it’s do-or-die for the Arizona Diamondbacks. They cannot afford to go down 3-0 in this series, or it may be short-lived. The problem right now is the Phillies look nearly unbeatable. Arizona looks like they have used up the magic they had to get to this series.
Philadelphia’s bats are not ready to slow down, and they will not slow down in this one. Look for more offense as the Phillies pound the Diamondbacks in Game 3. Philadelphia moves a game away from the World Series.
Bet the Philadelphia Phillies on the run line at -1.5 (+128) over Arizona on Thursday.
