PointsBet and PGA Tour Extend Contract

PGA Tour has extended its betting operation relationship with PointsBet, which has been announced as the official and exclusive free-to-play provided for professional golf tours in North America. Additionally, the deal expands the agreement of exclusive PointsBet odds integration on GOLF Channel, NBC, and Peacock.

A Three-Year Extension

On Monday, October 4, PGA Tour and PointsBet announced a three-year extension of their multi-year marketing and content partnership. The deal designated PointsBet as the official betting operator of the PGA Tour and the exclusive provider of PGA’s upcoming free-to-play game.

PointsBet’s live betting odds integration will now be featured on streaming broadcasts as part of the extended partnership. That includes Peacock and GOLF Channel and the NBC broadcasts, albeit with the latter integration scheduled for later.

Golf fans could have already seen the first integration of PointsBet live odds during GOLF Channel’s broadcast of the Fortinet Championship. It presented PointsBet’s odds of the lowest score by group, hole-by-hole odds, and total leaderboard odds.

“Expanding our relationship with the PGA TOUR is a key step in providing fans and viewers with the odds integrations and content that PointsBet users have been asking for,” said PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken.

“Together, with our partners at NBC Sports, we are at the intersection of golf broadcast and odds integration, an exciting time for bettors and viewers.”

As an official sports betting operator for PGA Tour, PointsBet also gained rights to advertise its services during PGA Tour broadcasts, its media platforms, and OTT and use all of PGA Tour content and other IP to promote betting.

A Free-To-Play Game With Weekly Prizes

The massive deal also appoints PointsBet as the exclusive provider of the soon-to-be-released free-to-play golf game, which is currently developed by Low6, a leading sports gaming technology company. The idea behind the game is to enhance fan engagement with live golf games and award them with weekly prizes.

As revealed by PGA Tour, fans will be able to enter the game at any point during a golf tournament week, with the point system directly tied with PointsBet live odds – including outright winner, top-10, and top-30 finishes.

PGA Tour has refrained from providing any additional details about the game; however, it was revealed that it would feature a weekly cash prize of up to $5,000.

“We’re excited to continue working with PointsBet to create innovative sports betting and free-to-play products for PGA TOUR fans,” said PGA Tour Senior Vice President Norb Gambuzza.

“PointsBet’s golf products continue to experience tremendous growth, and its support of our free-to-play game with Low6 will provide our fans the option to experience exciting in-play games in a free-to-play environment.”

The game is still under development, with no set date for its release. As noted by Low9 COO; Jake Johnson, his team is working on the project, with more information about the PGA Tour game said to become available in the coming months.

“This new free-to-play game will greatly enhance the weekly tournament experience for golf fans, and we look forward to seeing users engage with it next year,” said Mr. Johnson.
