Our Favorite Off Strip Casinos in Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Strip gets a lot of attention because of its reputation. When most people think of Las Vegas, the Strip is what comes to mind. But there are quite a few casinos off-Strip that are worth staying at. The hotels on the Strip worth staying at are expensive (i.e. Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, Caesars, etc.). But you can find comparable hotels off-Strip that are far more affordable. If you want to stay away from the craziness of the Las Vegas Strip or stay at the most affordable fancy hotel, you should check out these awesome Las Vegas Hotel Casinos:
The M Resort
The M Resort is located at the far south end of Las Vegas Boulevard in Henderson, approximately 8 miles from the Strip. They have a daily shuttle to the Strip so you can stay down there and still make it to the Strip easily. The M Resort features arguably the best buffet in Las Vegas, a fabulous pool, decent poker room, comfortable rooms, and an aesthetically pleasing interior and exterior. The casino is always as the right temperate. This isn’t a cheap joint but if you’re looking for a nice place away from the Strip, it’s hard to beat The M Resort.

Golden Nugget
Fremont Street is a great experience. If you like a party atmosphere with some incredible people watching, nothing beats Fremont. As far as the hotels go on Fremont, they’re not so good. Well, except for Golden Nugget. Golden Nugget is cheaper than a nice hotel on the Strip, but the rooms are well kept. Cash games in the Golden Nugget poker room aren’t great but they do have some profitable daily tournaments. The buffet is overrated but decent. They have a decent club that’s not expensive to get into and the view overlooks the Fremont Street Experience. Golden Nugget gives you the old school Vegas feel with more modern amenities.

The Rio
The Rio is most famous for hosting the World Series of Poker. But it’s arguably the coolest looking hotel from the outside at night. And there’s plenty more to this giant casino hotel than it’s physical appearance. The Rio is affordably priced and every room is a suite. Food options are plentiful at Rio. They have two high-quality buffets (a traditional buffet and a seafood buffet). The sportsbook is one of the best in Las Vegas and the grill attached to it offers some delicious burgers, wings, and other tasty treats. The atmosphere on the Rio casino floor is great. The action is lively around the blackjack and craps tables. Rio is conveniently located less than a mile from the center of the Strip, just down the street from Caesars Palace and Bellagio. I would never recommend walking from the strip to the Rio.. It may look close from the strip, but it is not an easy walk in the sun. Another Perk of staying at the Rio is you can easily walk next door to the Gold Coast and across the street to the Palms .

LVH
Las Vegas Hotel (LVH) – formerly Las Vegas Hilton – is conveniently located one block east of the north end of the Strip. This hotel has everything, including a world-class sportsbook and that is the main reason to go to LVH and the reason it is on this list. The casino floor is spacious and easy on the eyes. There are plenty of attractive ladies all over this place. The hotel is enormous and within walking distance to the Strip, or take the monorail from Harrahs, Flamingo, Ballys or the MGM. The rooms at LVH leave a lot to be desired. I’ve stayed here once before for a convention, but would not stay there again.

Green Valley Ranch
Green Valley Ranch is an entertainment resort for people of all ages. There are even games and movies for kids. They have a giant movie theater to go along with tons of awesome nightlife, restaurants, and casino games. The rooms are in line with that of what you’d get at a place such as Bellagio but less expensive. Green Valley Ranch is a mega resort that provides luxury amenities at affordable rates. It’s also a great place to party on the weekends.
