ESPN BET Gains North Carolina Mobile Access

The ESPN BET mobile app has officially launched in many states throughout the country, and more states are on the horizon. Both ESPN and PENN Entertainment are looking to be aggressive with the new product, and another new state was just announced.

Mobile sports betting is coming to the state of North Carolina soon, and ESPN BET will be one of the options when the launch happens. That’s because the two partners that operate the mobile app have reached a deal with a unique partner in the state.

The initial launch of the ESPN BET has been extremely successful in other markets, and it will be well established by the time it gets into North Carolina. An official launch date has not yet been set, but a pre-Super Bowl launch would be preferred by everyone in the state.

ESPN Bet Going with Golf

The North Carolina sports betting law allows professional sports teams and venues the opportunity to find a mobile sports betting partner. There are some great options in the state, but ESPN BET is now the official partner of Quail Hollow Club and the Wells Fargo Championship.

The PGA Tour has not been connected with sports betting a ton up to this point, but that should start to change over time. The Wells Fargo Championship is a popular event on the PGA Tour each year, and ESPN BET is going to get some unique marketing opportunities through the deal.

The Wells Fargo Championship is held in May every year, but the two partners are going to receive a bigger boost in 2025. Quail Hollow Club will be the site of the PGA Championship during that season.

Even though golf and the PGA Tour aren’t really known to generate a ton of sports betting action, the opportunity still exists. This will not only allow ESPN BET to offer mobile sports betting in the state, but it should generate a ton of revenue for both sides.

This new mobile app is already available in 17 states throughout the country, and it was relatively easy for both sides to get it up and running. PENN already had a Barstool Sportsbook app in those states and it just simply rebranded after paying ESPN $1.5 billion over 10 years.

A Look at NC Sports Betting

Sports betting is already live and available in the state of North Carolina, but all betting must be done in person. That hasn’t really produced a ton of action or revenue for the state, but that will change once the mobile launch occurs.

Bet365 has already announced a deal with the Charlotte Hornets, and that was a team that many operators wanted to land. Now that ESPN BET is also on board, there are just seven open slots remaining.

The sports betting laws in the state of North Carolina are expected to be favorable for the operators, and that will allow them to make some money. The Carolina Panthers are the other major draw in the state, and there will be a bidding war to land that partnership.
