Opening Weekend of Men’s College Basketball Has Arrived

The 2023-2024 Men’s College Basketball season got underway earlier this week, and the games are underway. It’s always interesting to see the start of the season, and how the games are played out, and what the schedule looks like. While not a loaded slate of games, there are some early season games worth keeping an eye out for. Let’s take a look at the opening weekend of Men’s College Basketball slate:

Texas A+M Aggies at Ohio State Buckeyes – Friday November 10th, 2023

The Aggies will go on the road and play a true road game at the Value City Arena in Columbus. A SEC affair at the Big Ten. The Aggies are coming off a blowout win in their opener, while the Buckeyes struggled, but picked up a win at home over Oakland. These two teams have their eyes set on the Big Dance. It will be interesting to see how the Aggies adjust to the true road factor in this one.

Arizona Wildcats at Duke Blue Devils – Friday November 10th, 2023

What a game to find on the first weekend of the College Basketball season. The Wildcats will visit Cameron Indoor Stadium for a massive early season test. To be quite honest, this is a battle of two teams with great intentions of winning a national title. Two teams with solid odds to cut down the nets in April. The home team gets a little advantage here, but do not sleep on the Wildcats. They have great athletic players that will give the Blue Devils and their fans all they can handle.

Tennessee Volunteers at Wisconsin Badgers – Friday November 10th, 2023

Friday night affair from the Kohl Center in Madison. The Volunteers are ranked inside the Top 10 to start the season. Tennessee smashed state foe Tennessee Tech in their opener. But, that will be no match for what the Badgers will bring to them. Slow it down, grind it out style of basketball will be on display from the home team. Wisconsin flew up the floor; scoring 105 in their opener over Arkansas State, but do not expect that to be the norm.

North Dakota State Bison at Connecticut Huskies – Saturday November 11th, 2023

With College Football taking over Saturday, the slate is not great. But, we do get to see a title contender in Creighton. This team is loaded with talent. They can shoot the ball from the outside, and they can get to the rim. They will fly up the court when needed or slow it down and get a great shot. For North Dakota, a trip to Omaha is a good test. When these two teams played two years ago, the Blue Jays won by 25. Can the Bison keep this game any closer in 2023?

Lehigh Mountain Hawks at North Carolina Tar Heels – Sunday November 12th, 2023

The Mountain Hawks get the next crack at the Tar Heels at the Dean Smith Center. North Carolina started slow in their 16 point win over Radford. For Lehigh, losing their season opener at home to Cornell was not what they expected. The Tar Heels are going to get guys plenty of opportunities in this one on Sunday.

Look Ahead:

  • Xavier Musketeers at Purdue Boilermakers – Monday November 13th, 2023
  • Michigan State Spartans vs. Duke Blue Devils  – Tuesday November 14th, 2023
  • Marquette Golden Eagles at Illinois FIghting Illini  – Tuesday November 14th, 2023
  • Kansas Jayhawks vs. Kentucky Wildcats  – Tuesday November 14th, 2023
  • Iowa Hawkeyes at Creighton Blue Jays  – Tuesday November 14th, 2023

Enjoy the hoops and best of luck!
