Pittsburgh Steelers at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

Sunday features a bit of a David vs. Goliath matchup as the Dallas Cowboys (2-6) will host the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers (7-0) at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff for this one is scheduled for 4:25 pm ET.

The Steelers have been rather impressive this season with a blend of stellar defense and solid offense. They have beaten back-to-back playoff contenders in the Tennessee Titans (27-24) and the Baltimore Ravens (28-24). In their win last week over the Ravens, Roethlisberger threw for two touchdowns, and James Conner rushed for another.

For the Cowboys, it has been quite the rough stretch as of late. In fact, in their last two losses (against Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles), the Cowboys have scored just a combined 12 points while giving up a combined 48. Given their competition gets significantly tougher in the Steelers, it could be a rough weekend for Dallas.

The Steelers come into this one as the overwhelming favorites to win. They are currently -950 to win while the Cowboys sit at +640. The spread features the Cowboys +14.5, and the over/under for total points is 43.

By The Numbers

Offensively, the Steelers have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season. They currently rank 5th averaging 30.1 points per game. The Cowboys come in 24th averaging 23.1 points per game.

The Steelers have been equally dominant on defense. They currently rank 6th overall, allowing just 20.3 points per game. In terms of points allowed, the Cowboys have been the worst team in football, allowing 33.2 points per game.

Steelers Look To Stay Undefeated

After a tough matchup in the Ravens last week, the Steelers get quite the reprieve this week. Taking on the Cowboys this week makes staying undefeated seem pretty likely.

Leading the Steelers under center is Ben Roethlisberger. To date, he has thrown for 1,628 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

His leading receivers have been JuJu Smith-Schuster (39 receptions, 346 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Eric Ebron (26 receptions, 263 yards, 2 touchdowns). Their receiving core is deep, though, as players like Diontae Johnson (25 receptions, 233 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Chase Claypool (23 receptions, 375 yards, 5 touchdowns) can also burn you at any point.

On the ground, James Conner leads the way with 110 rushes for 498 yards and five scores.

Their stellar defense is led by T.J. Watt (6.5 sacks), Avery Williamson (36 tackles), and Steven Nelson (2 interceptions).

Cowboys Turn To Fourth Quarterback In Four Weeks

The Cowboys offense is a train wreck right now, and it all starts with the quarterback position. Dak Prescott and backup Andy Dalton are both injured, rookie Ben DiNucci has been benched, and the starting quarterback for this one is unclear. While either Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush could get the start, an official announcement has not been made at the time of this writing.

Whoever starts will have weapons at his disposal. Amari Cooper (54 receptions, 588 yards, 2 touchdowns) and CeeDee Lamb (40 receptions, 524 yards, 2 touchdowns) have both been solid when given a chance.

On the ground, Ezekiel Elliott leads the way. He has 132 rushes this season for 521 yards and five touchdowns.

Taking The Steelers To Win And Cover

To spot an opponent over two touchdowns is a lot in the NFL, but, in this case, it might not be enough. The Steelers should have no problem on either side of the ball, and this one could get awfully ugly.

In fact, the only chance the Cowboys might have of covering is in garbage time if the Steelers rest their regulars. Even then, I think the lead will be too big to even cover the 14.5 points. For my money, I am taking the Steelers to win and cover.
